For a close friend
“Remembering [Name] with love. I am holding you and your family close in my thoughts.” Add your full name so the family knows who sent the flowers.
For an extended family member
“With love and sympathy as we remember [Name]. May the memories you shared bring comfort.” List each household or family branch clearly.
From coworkers or a company
“With deepest sympathy from everyone at [Company or Team]. We are thinking of you and your family.” Include the team name instead of a long list when space is limited.
For a neighbor or community member
“We are so sorry for your loss. [Name] will be remembered with warmth by neighbors and friends.” Sign the household, block association, school, congregation, or community group.
Faith language
Use religious wording only when you know it fits the family. A neutral message is respectful when you are not sure. Do not add a title, military honor, or organization name unless it is correct.
What to avoid
Avoid advice about grief, explanations for the death, jokes, or promises you cannot keep. Check spelling, especially the deceased person’s name and every sender name.
