Funeral flowers
Standing sprays, wreaths, hearts, crosses, casket flowers, and large baskets are designed for display at a viewing, funeral, or memorial. Casket flowers should be ordered only by close family or with their approval.
Sympathy flowers
Vase arrangements, orchids, peace lilies, and dish gardens are common home gifts. They are easier to place and do not require a service schedule.
Which should you choose?
Choose service flowers when you know the service details and want the tribute displayed there. Choose sympathy flowers when you want to support the family directly or when the service has passed.
When either choice may be wrong
Do not send flowers when the family clearly requests another form of remembrance. Follow “in lieu of flowers” instructions and respect religious or cultural practices you have confirmed.
