Standing spray
A standing spray is arranged on an easel and designed to face one direction. It is a formal service piece and normally goes to the funeral home, church, or memorial venue before setup.
- Best for: a viewing, wake, funeral, or memorial
- Common senders: family, friends, coworkers, and organizations
- Confirm: service venue, first viewing time, and full name
Wreath
A wreath is also displayed on an easel. Its circular form is traditional, but the flower mix and color can reflect the person being remembered. Faith symbols should be selected only when the family welcomes them.
Funeral basket
A basket or floor arrangement can be placed without an easel. It is formal enough for a service and can be easier for staff to move between a viewing room and another venue. Do not assume that the destination will move it.
Plant or dish garden
A plant is usually easier for the family to take home and keep after the service. Send it to the home when you do not know the service details or when the service has passed. Confirm that the recipient can care for it.
Quick decision rule
If the tribute should be part of the service display, choose a spray, wreath, or basket. If the gift is mainly for the family, choose a vase arrangement or plant. Follow the obituary or family request first.
